eCheck Poker Deposits, the Guaranteed Way to Fund Online Play

There aren’t too many things guaranteed in this life, aside from death and taxes, of course. For online poker players in the US, the ability to make a deposit can be even more volatile than making a profit on the virtual felt. With that in mind, we’d like to share with you the rapidity and convenience of eCheck poker deposits.

Making a purchase with an eCheck, also known as ACH (Automated Clearing House) or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), is as easy as writing a personal check. Admittedly, in day to day life, the use of paper checks has been superseded by the simple swipe of plastic credit/debit cards, but for internet purposes, one is as easy to use as the other – almost. The biggest difference is that the rate of decline for eCheck poker deposits is negligible.

In the follow text, we’ll discuss how to make an eCheck poker deposit, and the many advantages that come along with it.

How to Make an eCheck Poker Deposit

There’s very little difference between the process of depositing at an online poker room with a credit/debit card and an instant eCheck. The information needed to make a credit card deposit is located right on the card, just as the information needed for an eCheck deposit is located on a paper check. However, you don’t actually have to have a paper check available to make an eCheck poker deposit.

To make an ACH payment, you will need two key pieces of information – the Bank Account Number associated with your checking account, and the 9-digit Routing Number of the bank. These numbers are printed on the bottom of all paper checks. (See photo below, courtesy

Note: If you do not use paper checks, call your bank and simply ask for the routing number directly.

To make an eCheck poker deposit, log into your favorite online poker site and make your way to the Cashier/Banking page. Under available deposit methods, look for eCheck, Instant eCheck, ACH or EFT, and click on it. You will be presented with a form requesting several pieces of information, including your full name, address, account #, routing number and the amount to be deposited.

After filling out the form and double-checking all information, submit the payment and the funds will be available in your online poker account in less than a minute (unless, of course, there are insufficient funds available to cover the payment).

Advantages of eCheck Poker Deposits

The speed and accuracy of eCheck poker deposits are the number one incentive for online players. It should be noted that, just like writing a paper check, the funds are not instantly taken from the player’s account. However, much like using a debit card, there is an instant communication between the bank and the receiver of the deposit in which the online poker site is told whether the amount of funds being deposited is available. If the answer from the bank is yes, then the poker account is instantly credited.

eCheck poker deposits are extremely secure and much more reliable the credit/debit cards. American online poker players have been plagued with declined credit card deposits for years, even at legal, US regulated gaming sites. But when using an eCheck, the rate of decline is phenomenally lower, and generally related to insufficient funds rather than a bank’s refusal to facilitate the transfer. In fact, at, regulated in New Jersey, Instant eChecks are listed as a “Guaranteed” method of deposit.

Withdrawals can also be performed via eCheck, making this payment method much more preferable than credit cards, which only accept withdrawals up to the amount deposited (i.e. no good for a winning poker player). The process for requesting a withdrawal via eCheck is the same as making a deposit. However, it can take anywhere from 3 to 10 business days for the funds to be processed by the operator and cleared by the bank.
