The 44th Annual World Series of Poker is well underway, having seen the commencement of 17 events and awarding 11 bracelets thus far. (Congratulation to all winners, btw, especially our favorite Canadian poker pro, Daniel Negreanu, on receiving his 5th commemorative bracelet). As thousands upon thousands of players pile into the poker room of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino each day in Las Vegas, Nevada, we’ve kept our eyes trained for achievements from our Durrrr Challenge competitors, Tom Dwan and Daniel Cates.
While there is no news to report on that home front, we were intrigued to find that Dwan has been given 80-to-1 odds to win the 2013 WSOP Main Event No Limit Holdem Championship. Over at the popular online sportsbook, Bwin, punters can place wagers on who will win the championship bracelet this year. With 58 names on the list, our dear friend Tom “durrrr” Dwan comes in at #10. The highest odds to win go to Daniel Negreanu, priced at 40-to-1. Sadly, Daniel Cates’ name does not appear on that list.
More prop bets on the 2013 WSOP are available at other online sports betting sites. Bovada, for example, is offering odds on whether this year’s winner will hail from the United States of America (2-to – odds on Yes; 11-to-10 on No). Any female making it to the final table is drawing odds of 7-to-1. The same 7-to-1 odds can be taken on whether any former WSOP Champion makes it into the November Nine. Betters can lay odds on the age of the eventual Main Event champ (at the time of winning), set at 3-to-2 on 27+ years, or 11-to-10 on 26 years, 364 days or younger. Last but not least, Bovada offers odds on the final winning hand of the WSOP Main Event being 2-pair or better (5-to-7 odds) or 1 pair or below (1-to-1 evens).
Having inestimable faith in Tom Dwan, I’ll be taking some action on the Bwin props. I might even lay a few bucks on the 27+ age range at Bovada, considering Thomas will be turning 27 next month (July 30, to be exact), after the start of the Main Event, but long before the final nine gather to play out its conclusion in November.
If you’re interested, here’s a list of the top 58 players the odds makers at Bwin have chosen worthy of taking bets on to win the 2013 WSOP Main Event, and their respective odds*. I’ve taken the time to provide them in all popular formats; UK fractional odds, European decimal odds and American moneyline odds. And finally, for those who aren’t familiar with sports betting, 80-to-1 odds on Tom Dwan means a $100 bet stands to win $8,000 if he takes down the Main Event.
