Real Money Texas Holdem for Blackberry
I’m not going to sugar coat this for you – Blackberry devices and real money poker just don’t make a great match. Is it possible to play real money poker on Blackberry? Yes. But it’s not going to be nearly as functional or feature-rich as playing on more popular smartphones, like Android, Windows and Apple iOS devices or tablets.
The Blackberry has been around much longer, introduced in 1999, and was an instant success on the mobile market. When it arrived, it was “the” phone to have. Unfortunately, the mobile market grew so rapidly, with heavy hitters like the iPhone and Android powered devices advancing technology with astounding alacrity, that Blackberry failed to keep up with developing trends. The next thing we knew, Blackberry was falling to the wayside. A series of critical network failures didn’t help the company either. As a direct result, Blackberry now makes up approximately 5% of active mobile devices worldwide.

Blackberry Poker Sites, In a Flash
As stated above, yes, it is possible to play real money poker on a Blackberry mobile. However, there is no designated real-money poker app anywhere on the world wide web optimized for Blackberry devices. You will find some play-money variations, like Texas Hold’em King LIVE Poker at Blackberry AppWorld – but none linked to real-money poker sites.
The only way to play real money poker on your Blackberry is to use Flash-based technology. Some online poker sites will provide their software in dual formats; a downloadable poker client and a Flash poker room that launches instantly in the player’s browser. By loading the in-browser poker platform on your Blackberry, it is possible to play for real money.
However, as the bigger poker sites have launched downloadable Mac-compliant poker software, the availability of Flash poker software is becoming scarce. In the same token, Blackberry doesn’t run such applications with perfect, streaming clarity. The more complex the features are, the more fidgety it may run. Conversely, the less features there are, the less enjoyable it will be to play poker on anyway.
As always, I’ve done a bit of hands-on research and for those of you Blackberry owners who are bound and determined to make it work, I have to suggest 888 Poker. The Flash poker app runs decently; not flawlessly, but it gets the job done. 888 Poker, as a whole, presents intense quality throughout – from the service and backend to the flexibility of the software and player base.
Other real money Flash poker sites, compatible with Blackberry, include Titan Poker, Paddy Power Poker and UWIN Poker. If you’re a seasoned online poker player, you may notice one thing these poker sites all have in common, which brings us to our next topic…
Blackberry Poker for Real Money in the USA
That’s right; all of the Flash-based, Blackberry compliant poker rooms listed above do not accept USA players. In fact, there isn’t a single US-facing real money poker site that exists in cyberspace that operates on a Blackberry device.
The Next Step…
So you have a Blackberry and you love playing Texas Holdem for real money, but you’re not satisfied with the results of my evaluation. What can you do? Well, you could start a petition to Thorsten Heins, President and CEO of the Blackberry corporation, with global headquarters in Ontario, Canada. You could upgrade to a more popular device for card gaming programmers, such as an iPhone, Android or Windows device or tablet. Or, you can remain patient, use the Flash poker platform and make the best of your beloved Blackberry.
