There are several major online poker series that draw the most attention from card players around the world, like the WCOOP and SCOOP at PokerStars, and the FTOPS at Full Tilt, but for US online poker fans, the top of the totem pole belongs to Carbon Poker. The Carbon Online Poker Series (OPS) is just around the corner, set to kick off Sunday, November 9th, with the first of 76 events worth $2 million guaranteed over the next two weeks.
Carbon’s OPS is the premier event of the season for US online poker players, featuring dozens of opportunities to cash in on a wide range of tournament types and buy-ins that scale from as low as $5.50 up to $530. The Main Event won’t take place until three Sundays from now, starting at 5:00pm on Nov. 23rd. But that’s just the primary Main Event. The schedule offers five variations of fluctuating price levels for the OPS Main Event.
The first three Main Event’s at Carbon Poker begin at 4:00pm, labeled as events #71, #72 and #73, with prices tags of $215, $11 and $33, respectively. Each has its own guaranteed payout as well. The first, #71, is the ‘big one’, promising $250k to the winners, while the second two offer $40k and $50k guarantees. The next Main Event is the most expensive, listed as #74 with a 5:00pm start time, $530 buy-in and $75k GTD prize pool. Then at 6:00pm, Main Event #75 offers a $109 buy-in for a shot at another $75k GTD.
Two highlights of the series are slated for each Sunday, Nov. 9th and 16th at 4:00pm; Events #2 and #37. Both are $215 Super Deep NLHE tournaments, each guaranteeing $150k. There are several other events sprinkling the calendar that should attract plenty of attention, including 6-Max tourneys, hyper turbos, knockouts, deep stacks, mega stacks and a couple of re-buy / add-on events.
The Carbon Online Poker Series will wrap up with Event #76, a ‘Last Chance’ tournament that gets underway at 7:00pm. With a $215 buy-in and $50k GTD, it will certainly be popular among those who fall out of the Main Event early, as well as avid multi-tablers.
Carbon Poker is hosting daily satellites into most of the Main Events in the OPS. Players can earn a seat in the big $250k GTD Main Event daily at 8:00pm for just $5, with 5 seats guaranteed. At the same time, a daily satellite is hosted into Event #72 for only $1.10. Half an hour later, online poker players can grab a seat in Event #73 each day for $2.20, or win a shot in Event #74 for $11. The only satellite for the higher-priced $530 Main Event #75 will be held Saturday, Nov. 8th at 6:00pm with a $33 price tag and 3 GTD seats.
Part of the Merge Gaming Network, Carbon Poker has been a favorite of American online poker players for years, especially since the US-facing market shrank so drastically in 2011. Carbon continues to accept players from most US states, presenting new members with a very generous first-time deposit bonus of 200% up to $5,000.
