The World Series of Poker has broken a lot of molds over the years, which attests to its being deemed the most prestigious poker tournament the world has ever known. This year, WSOP organizers have done it again, announcing that the 2015 schedule will include the first ever bracelet-worthy online poker event in the 45 year history of the series.
The 2015 WSOP Schedule has 68 events on the roster this summer, slated to take place from May 27th through July 15th, 2015. Among them are 11 brand new tournaments being introduced to the live poker series in Las Vegas. The most notable is the addition of the WSOP Online Poker Tournament, to be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 as Event #64.
The WSOP Online Tournament will be held exclusively at Nevada’s leading online poker site, WSOP.com. However, once the online poker event is played down to the final two, they will be required to finish out heads-up play at a live poker table at the Rio on Friday, July 3rd.
WSOP officials explained the reason behind moving the final two to a live table is to keep with the tradition of awarding bracelets in person. They said that having one’s photograph taken with the money and bracelet upon winning is part of the WSOP experience.
The other 10 new events scheduled for the 2015 WSOP are as follows:

In addition to those new features, the 2015 World Series of Poker is going to offer players higher starting chip stacks for all events with a buy-in of less than $10,000. These include the new $565 Colossus (5k chips) and the new $777 Lucky 7’s (5k chips). All $1,000 buy-in events will feature 5k chips, $1,500 buy-ins are increased to 7,500 chips, $2,500 buy-ins jump to 12,500 chips, $3,000 buy-ins are increased to 15,000 chips and $5,000 buy-ins will now feature a starting stack of 20,000 chips.
Many noteworthy events of the WSOP will be repeated in 2015 as well. The popular $1,500 Millionaire Maker, featuring a $1,000,000 GTD prize for 1st place, will be held on June 5th. The $1,500 Monster Stack returns this year on June 12th. The $1k Seniors Championship and $10k Ladies Championship events will take place on June 19th and 25th respectively. The Big One for One Drop will present the same buy-in as last year, $111,111, and will play out on July 28th, with the $1,000 Little One for One Drop scheduled for July 30th.
And of course, the $10,000 2015 WSOP Main Event will begin on Sunday, July 5th (as opposed to Saturday, “to avoid conflict” with 4th of July holiday celebrations). The final table is expected to be reached on July 14th, at which time gameplay will cease until the final table reconvenes as the elite November Nine.
